Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau’s budding romance heats up across continents
Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appear to be exploring a growing romance that blends mutual respect and undeniable chemistry.
According to a Canadian source familiar with the political world, the pair are “quite taken with each other” for now. “In addition to the attraction, they are both smart and love to talk about serious issues,” the source shared.
Though both lead demanding lives—Perry, 40, is currently on her Lifetimes World Tour through December, while Trudeau, 53, remains based in Canada—the connection has quietly deepened.
“They have stayed in touch since the middle of summer but haven’t been able to spend that much time together, due mainly to her schedule,” the insider explained.
“Justin is also busy and both have family obligations. They have interests in common. Both are taking dating as it comes. But they are definitely into each other — and have been.”
Their bond reportedly evolved steadily over time, mixing friendship and romantic interest. “Justin thinks she is terrific,” the source added.
“It has had time to develop on a friend and intellectual level as well as supersized attraction. The romance has merit.”
Neither Perry nor Trudeau has publicly commented on the status of their relationship.
Romance rumours first emerged in July when they were spotted walking together, enjoying drinks, and later dining out in Montreal—a month after Perry’s split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom.
Trudeau had previously announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Two days after their Montreal outing, Trudeau was seen attending Perry’s concert in the city. Most recently, the two were photographed kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara in late September.
A separate Perry insider noted, “When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch. He even flew to California to see her during a tour break. They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
During her London Lifetimes Tour stop on Monday night, Perry coyly responded to a fan holding a sign that read “I heard you’re single.” With a smile, she replied, “You heard I was single? That’s interesting.”
