Keanu Reeves pays heartfelt tribute to Diane Keaton: ‘Very special’

Keanu Reeves paid tribute to his former co-star Diane Keaton following her passing at the age of 79.

Speaking at the New York premiere of his film Good Fortune, Reeves described Keaton as “a very special artist and person” and highlighted their collaboration in the 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give.

Reeves’ heartfelt words came after director Nancy Meyers, who worked with Keaton on several projects, shared a poignant tribute on Instagram.

Meyers fondly remembered Keaton’s dedication to her craft, saying, “When I needed her to cry in scene after scene in Something’s Gotta Give, she went at it hard and then somehow made it funny.”

She also praised Keaton’s fearlessness and unique presence on screen, stating, “She was fearless, she was like nobody ever, she was born to be a movie star.”

Meyers expressed her deep loss, writing, “As a movie lover, I’m with you all — we have lost a giant. A brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories.”

She continued, “As a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years — at times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences.”

In honour of Keaton’s legacy, AMC Theatres will re-release her iconic films Annie Hall and Something’s Gotta Give in 100 cinemas across the United States.

Keaton’s remarkable career spanned decades, with notable roles in films like The Godfather and The First Wives Club.
