PM Shehbaz concludes Egypt visit following Gaza Peace Summit

SHARM EL SHEIKH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Pakistan after completing a two-day official visit to Egypt, where he attended the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El Sheikh.

The landmark summit brought together leaders from over 20 countries, including the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, who jointly signed a peace agreement aimed at ending hostilities in Gaza.

At Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, Egyptian Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Heno saw off the prime minister at the conclusion of his visit.

 

PM Shehbaz Praises Trump’s Role in Achieving Peace

 

During the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz was invited to speak after former U.S. President Donald Trump interrupted his press conference to request the Pakistani leader’s remarks.

Describing the event as “one of the greatest days in contemporary history,” Shehbaz Sharif lauded Trump’s diplomatic efforts, saying,

“I would like to nominate this great president for the Nobel Peace Prize because I genuinely feel he has brought peace not only in South Asia—saving millions of lives—but also here in Sharm El Sheikh, achieving peace in Gaza and saving millions more in the Middle East.”

 

Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Cause

 

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) during his return journey, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for Trump’s commitment to peace, noting that “Pakistan’s gratitude to President Trump is anchored in his promise that he would make it stop—and he delivered.”

He reiterated Pakistan’s enduring support for the freedom, dignity, and prosperity of the Palestinian people, emphasizing that the establishment of a viable Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s Middle East policy.

The prime minister underscored that Pakistan, in coordination with other brotherly nations, would continue to play its part in promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
