
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed a ban on pillion riding and public gatherings in 13 districts in connection with the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
According to the Home Department, the restrictions will apply in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Tank.
The ban has been enforced under Section 144 to maintain law and order during the religious observance. It will remain in effect for one week.
Meanwhile, wall chalking, inflammatory speeches and advertising of objectionable materials, loudspeakers and black glasses of vehicles have also been banned.
According to the Interior Department, display of arms, aerial firing and fireworks will also be banned, while the presence of people on the roofs of houses near the Chehlum procession processions will also be prohibited.
On this occasion, the movement of Afghan citizens has also been banned.
