Sindh Assembly honors Lyari’s young footballers

KARACHI: The Pakistani football team that brought pride to the nation by winning the Norway Cup arrived at the Sindh Assembly accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary and MPA from Lyari, Shazia Kareem Singhar, where they were given a grand reception.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, former Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, and opposition leader Sabir Rajput warmly welcomed the players on the floor of the House.
Lawmakers hailed the young athletes as “national heroes,” praising them for elevating the prestige of both Pakistan and Sindh.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon assured the players that they would be rewarded by the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Sports Department, with an official announcement of a fitting prize to be made soon.

The mood in the assembly was further lightened when former Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani suggested that the Transport Minister gift the players a “Red Bus” to help with their travel to inter-city matches. This suggestion was met with resounding applause, delighting the young players.

The “Better Future Pakistan” team, composed of talented youths from Lyari, made history by defeating Norway’s Club Yuvik Len with a score of 2-0 in the final. Their victory not only marked a significant achievement in football but also brought immense pride to Pakistan on a global platform.
