Noor Zaman makes winning start at World Games Squash

CHENGDU, China: Pakistan’s Noor Zaman got off to a flying start at the World Games Squash tournament by defeating his Chinese opponent to advance to the pre-quarterfinals.

The Pakistani player beat China’s Hai Song Chen in just 16 minutes with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Noor Zaman won the match with scores of 11-2, 11-2, and 11-0.

In the Round of 16, Noor Zaman will face Colombia’s Miguel Rodriguez.

Pakistan’s second player Nasir Iqbal will play his first match from Switzerland this evening in the World Games Squash.

On the other hand, One year ago today, Pakistani javelin thrower and national hero Arshad Nadeem etched his name in history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. His remarkable throw of 92.97 meters not only secured the top spot but also set a new Olympic record, a feat that is being celebrated on its first anniversary.

Arshad Nadeem’s victory was monumental for Pakistan for several reasons. It was the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years and, even more significantly, the first-ever individual Olympic gold medal won by a Pakistani athlete.
