
ECP disqualifies Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and others PTI leaders after court convictions
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially disqualified several key members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including senior leaders Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Zartaj Gul.
According to a notification issued by the ECP, the decision was made after these members were found guilty in different court cases. The disqualification was carried out under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution, which applies to lawmakers who are convicted by a court.
The disqualified members include:
- Omar Ayub
- Shibli Faraz
- Zartaj Gul
- Sahibzada Hamid Raza
- Rai Hassan Nawaz
- Rai Haider Ali Khan
- Muhammad Ansar Iqbal
- Junaid Afzal Sahi
- Rai Muhammad Murtaza
In total, five National Assembly members, three Punjab Assembly members, and one Senator have lost their seats.
The Election Commission stated that all constitutional and legal procedures were followed before issuing the official notification.
This move marks a major development in the political landscape as PTI continues to face legal and political challenges ahead of the upcoming elections.
