Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrives in Pakistan

LAHORE: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on his first official visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries.

President Pezeshkian landed in Lahore for a two-day official visit, where he was warmly received by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

A grand reception was arranged at Allama Iqbal International Airport, which was decorated with the national flags of Pakistan and Iran. A red carpet welcome was also extended to the Iranian delegation.

During his stay in Lahore, the Iranian President paid his respects at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal. He is scheduled to depart for Islamabad later in the evening.

In the federal capital, President Pezeshkian is expected to hold key meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani as part of his diplomatic engagements.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office spokesperson, visit is being made at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

During his stay, the Iranian President is scheduled to hold meetings with the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the spokesperson added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited Iran on May 26, 2025.

Foreign Office spokesperson said Iranian President’s visit will further strengthen bilateral brotherly relations.
