Karachi businessman Muzammil Paracha, known for Rs10 Crore “A1” number plate, passes away

Karachi: Prominent Karachi-based businessman Muzammil Kareem Paracha, who rose to public attention after acquiring the coveted “A1” premium vehicle number plate for a record-breaking Rs10 crore, has reportedly passed away following a prolonged battle with cancer.

While official confirmation from the family is still awaited, reports circulating on social media suggest that Paracha succumbed to complications related to his illness. His death marks the loss of a notable figure in Pakistan’s business and automobile enthusiast communities.

Paracha made headlines earlier this year during Sindh’s first-ever premium number plate auction, organized by the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department at a local hotel in Karachi. The event was a landmark moment in the province’s vehicle registration history, with Paracha securing the “A1” plate—the most expensive number plate ever auctioned in the region.

Other high-profile bids at the auction included plate number “5” sold for Rs50.3 million, “7” for Rs40.6 million, “8” for Rs40.1 million, and “9” for Rs40 million. However, it was Paracha’s acquisition of the “A1” plate that stole the spotlight, quickly making him an internet sensation and symbol of elite car culture in Pakistan.
