Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White eyed for lead roles in ‘The Social Network Part II’

Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White are reportedly Aaron Sorkin’s top choices to lead The Social Network Part II, a follow-up to the acclaimed 2010 film.

While no official offers have been made, insiders say the Oscar and Emmy-winning actors are Sorkin’s preferred picks for the lead roles in the upcoming Sony Pictures project.

The sequel, which is currently in development, is not a direct continuation of the first film but a new chapter inspired by The Facebook Files, a Wall Street Journal investigation that exposed internal practices and harms linked to Facebook.

Madison is expected to play the whistleblower central to the story, while White is in line to portray journalist Jeff Horowitz.

Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Social Network, is returning to write and direct. The production team includes Todd Black, Peter Rice, Stuart Besser, and Sorkin himself. Sony Pictures has not commented on casting or plot details.

Released in 2010 and based on Ben Mezrich’s The Accidental Millionaires, the original film received eight Oscar nominations and grossed $226 million globally.

The upcoming film will cover broader themes than its predecessor, focusing on Facebook’s influence beyond the US, including its impact on elections, young users, and global safety.

According to sources, this is not a film about the January 6 Capitol events but a critical look at digital power and responsibility.
