The biggest clash of the World Championship of Legends

England: The Indian Legends team, which previously refused to play against Pakistan Champions in the first stage of the World Championship of Legends 2025, is now set to clash with them in the event’s semi-final.

On Tuesday, in a crucial match of the ongoing World Championship of Legends in England, India Champions defeated West Indies Champions to qualify for the tournament’s semi-finals.

Batting first, the West Indies set India Legends a target of 145 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Crucially, India needed to complete this chase within 14.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals based on a superior net run rate.

However, India successfully achieved the target in just 13.2 overs, losing 5 wickets, thanks to a brilliant half-century by Stuart Binny. This victory made them the fourth and final team to qualify for the semi-finals.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan Champions had secured the top spot on the points table by defeating Australia Champions by 10 wickets. Australia and South Africa had already qualified for the semi-finals.

Following India’s win, the semi-final lineup is now complete. In the first semi-final of the event, Pakistan (who finished top of the points table) will face India (who finished fourth) on July 31st. The second semi-final will see South Africa take on Australia on the same day.

It’s important to recall that the earlier clash between Pakistan and India in the first stage of the World Championship of Legends 2025 was canceled. Indian players had refused to play against Pakistan.

According to sources, there was a demand that Shahid Afridi not be part of Pakistan’s playing XI. Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Harbhajan Singh had reportedly opposed playing the match against Pakistan. Following this, the tournament organizers issued a statement expressing regret over the cancellation of the match between Pakistan and India.

Now, all eyes will be on whether the Indian players will compete against Pakistan in the semi-final or once again refuse to play against the Green Shirts.
