PSB hikes cash rewards for medal-winning athletes

ISLAMABAD: In a major move aimed at rewarding excellence and inspiring future champions, the Government of Pakistan has increased cash incentives for medal-winning athletes, offering up to three times more than before for Olympic gold medalists.

The revised reward structure, approved in the 23rd meeting of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Board, sees the Olympic gold medal cash prize leap from Rs 10 million to a whopping Rs 30 million. Silver medalists at the Summer Olympics will now earn Rs 20.5 million, while bronze medalists will receive Rs 10 million, a bold and unprecedented investment in the country’s sporting future.

Winter Olympians weren’t left behind, as the gold medalists are now entitled to Rs 10 million, silver Rs 7.5 million, and bronze Rs 5 million.Asian Games medalists also saw significant boosts, with gold winners to receive Rs 10.5 million, silver Rs 7 million, and bronze Rs 5 million.

Other international events included in the upgraded reward structure are: Commonwealth Games: Rs 7.5m (Gold), Rs 5m (Silver), Rs 3m (Bronze). Islamic Solidarity Games: Rs 5m (Gold), Rs 3m (Silver), Rs 2m (Bronze)Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games: Rs 2m (Gold), Rs 1m (Silver), Rs 0.5m (Bronze)South Asian Games: Rs 1m (Gold), Rs 0.75m (Silver), Rs 0.5m (Bronze)

World Amateur Snooker & Billiard Championship: Rs 1.5m (Gold), Rs 1m (Silver), Rs 0.7m (Bronze) This historic revision reflects the government’s renewed commitment to elevating the status of national athletes and creating a high-performance sporting culture in Pakistan.

The updated incentive chart comes at a time when Pakistani athletes are preparing to showcase their talents on the global stage, offering both motivation and financial security for those who bring glory to the country.
