Humaira’s family breaks silence on rumors, “We Never Refused to Claim Her Body”
Following widespread rumors and online speculation, Humaira Asghar’s younger brother, Naveed Asghar, held a media briefing alongside humanitarian Ramzan Chhipa to clarify misinformation surrounding the late actress’s funeral.
Naveed Asghar rejected the perception circulating on social media that the family refused to claim Humaira’s body. “If a body is in police custody, legal procedures must be completed before it can be handed over,” he explained, adding, “We’ve been in contact with both Ramzan Chhipa and the police for the past three days.”
He shared that “the family was already going through emotional turmoil after the recent loss of their aunt in a road accident, which had left their parents particularly distraught. “Her sudden death, followed by constant media calls, made things extremely difficult,” Naveed said. “We have now formally received her body through Chhipa.”
He emphasized that Humaira was an independent woman who made a name for herself through hard work. “It’s wrong to suggest our parents had cut ties with her,” he stressed. “She was self-made, and she had her own identity.”
Ramzan Chhipa also addressed the media, clarifying that Naveed Asghar had been in regular contact with him. He condemned the misleading narratives circulating on social media, stating, “Daughters belong to all of us — such propaganda must end.”
He urged people not to make assumptions about private family matters. “Disagreements happen in every household,” Chhipa said, requesting the media and public to respect the family’s privacy. He also announced that Chhipa Welfare would cover all expenses for transporting Humaira’s body from Karachi to Lahore. “Humaira is like a daughter to me,” he said emotionally, “and every one of our volunteers stands with her in grief.”
