The Pakistan-South Africa joint exercise ‘Iqbal-I,’ a collaborative counter-terrorism training initiative between the Pakistan Army and the South African Special Forces, concluded recently at Cherat.
Spanning two weeks, the exercise began on October 15 and brought together combat teams from Pakistan’s Special Services Group (SSG) and South Africa’s Special Forces.
The closing ceremony was marked by a display of high professional standards, with participants demonstrating skills and techniques developed throughout the joint training. The Commandant of Pakistan’s Special Operation School, along with Colonel SS Lechoenyo, Chief of Staff of South African Special Forces, attended the event, reflecting the importance of the exercise in strengthening military ties between the two nations.
The primary objective of ‘Iqbal-I’ was to enhance operational skills and tactical knowledge in counter-terrorism, promoting mutual learning while fostering historic military cooperation between Pakistan and South Africa.
