Armed clash leaves three injured in Murree


MURREE:

A violent clash erupted between two groups of local traders at Mall Road’s GPO Chowk, turning the area into a battleground.

Both sides resorted to aerial firing and used sticks and stones freely, leaving three people injured.

Several vehicles also had their windows shattered, while tourists were gripped by panic as a stampede broke out at the busy GPO Chowk.

Police operations continued late into the night. According to officials, 15 suspects involved in the brawl and gunfire were arrested.

The incident occurred near Imtiaz Shaheed Road, where intense firing and stone-pelting took place during the clash. The Murree district police officer (DPO) took immediate notice and deployed a heavy police contingent to the scene.

Murree ASP and the local SHO also reached the location with their teams.

The police registered a case under various provisions of Anti-Terrorism Act and arrested 23 suspects belonging to both groups. The suspects were produced in the court of Rawalpindi ATC Judge who granted four-day physical remand of the accused.
