TikTok introduces “Bulletin Boards” feature

TikTok has launched a new feature called ‘Bulletin Boards’ to boost one-way communication with its users, resembling Instagram’s Broadcast Channels.

This new tool allows creators and brands to directly share updates, announcements, and important information with their followers. However, interaction is limited, with followers only able to react using emojis.

The ‘Bulletin Boards’ feature is currently in its testing phase, initially available to a select group of users. This includes prominent entities like People magazine, football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and the popular music band Jonas Brothers.

Creators can utilize this feature to share content in the form of videos, images, or simple text.

This functionality enables brands, artists, and other public figures to directly convey new projects, updates, or personal messages to their fan base.

TikTok’s move follows Instagram’s successful introduction of ‘Broadcast Channels’ in 2023, and TikTok appears to be adopting a similar format to strengthen user engagement, much like its earlier adoption of an Instagram Stories-like feature.

This feature is presently restricted to a limited number of users, there’s an expectation that this feature will soon become globally available to all.
