KARACHI: Pakistan players excelled on the opening day of the Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship 2025, with defending champion Awais Ullah Munir, seasoned cueists Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Sajjad delivering emphatic victories in Colombo.

A total of 32 players from 13 countries are competing in the event, divided into eight groups. Each player will play three round-robin matches, with the top two from each group advancing to the pre-quarterfinal stage.

Awais Ullah Munir, the reigning title-holder, opened his campaign with two dominant wins. He first overcame Chi Kin Chan of Macao China in a 4–2 battle before dismantling Ziaur Rahman Azad of Bangladesh 4–0. Awais displayed his trademark break-building ability, crafting notable runs of 65, 47, 59, and a sizzling 75 in consecutive frames.

Meanwhile, two-time IBSF world champion Muhammad Asif outclassed Cambodia’s Neang Tola 4–1, asserting his presence with breaks of 37 and 47. Muhammad Sajjad was equally clinical, producing a 4–0 whitewash over Bahrain’s Khalil Busaif, backed by a composed break of 33.
