Lahore Traffic Police launches app to boost E-Challan recovery

Lahore: Lahore Traffic Police has introduced an innovative mobile application aimed at streamlining vehicle inspections and enhancing the recovery of outstanding e-challans.

The app, unveiled by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Athar Waheed, leverages modern technology to improve traffic enforcement efficiency across the city.

The new application allows traffic officers to instantly access complete vehicle details and pending e-challan information simply by taking a photograph of the vehicle.

This introduction is a significant upgrade from the previous manual system, which required officers to stop vehicles and manually enter registration, chassis, or ID card data using LT wireless sets.

Integrated with the existing Wardens App, this photo-based feature is expected to accelerate vehicle checks and increase e-challan recovery rates. Within just one month of its launch, the app has already demonstrated impressive results, with daily recovery figures soaring from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 5 million.

Furthermore, out of Rs. 9.4 million in outstanding fines owed by government vehicles, Rs. 3.5 million has been recovered in this short span.

To complement this technological advancement, Lahore Traffic Police has formed dedicated teams tasked with collecting Rs. 6 billion in pending e-challan dues. These strategic initiatives highlight the city’s commitment to improving traffic law enforcement and revenue collection.
