Army, WAPDA crowned national karate champs

LAHORE: The 31st National Karate Championship concluded with Pakistan Army dominating the men’s category and WAPDA securing the title in the women’s division.

In the men’s competition, Pakistan Army clinched the first position with an impressive haul of 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were declared joint runners-up, while WAPDA finished in third place.

For the women’s events, WAPDA emerged victorious, securing the top spot with 6 gold and 4 silver medals. Pakistan Army finished as runners-up with 2 gold and 3 silver medals, and Sindh claimed the third position.

Brigadier Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was the chief guest at the championship’s closing ceremony and distributed the prizes to the winning teams and athletes. Earlier Pakistan Army emerged victorious in the 6th National Cadet & Junior Karate Championship, securing the top spot with an impressive haul of three gold medals and one bronze medal. WAPDA clinched the second position in the championship, earning two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Sindh secured the third spot with two gold and five bronze medals.
