Dialogue with India on terrorism expected soon, says Field Marshal

WASHINGTON: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has stated that discussions with India on the issue of terrorism will take place, and the world will soon witness significant developments.

Addressing a large gathering of the Pakistani community in Washington, DC, the Field Marshal shed light on various aspects of Operation Bunyān Mursūs, and spoke extensively on issues including terrorism in Pakistan, the country’s economic situation, Pakistan-US relations, and the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

Speaking to nearly 400 prominent Pakistani-American community leaders from across the United States, General Munir revealed that following the recent Pahalgam incident, India reached out to Pakistan with accusations, demanding that Islamabad label the attack as terrorism.

In response, General Munir said, Pakistan firmly conveyed that such incidents are a part of legitimate freedom movements in occupied Kashmir against Indian occupation, and cannot be termed as terrorism.

Pakistan’s Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has strongly criticized India’s allegations linking Pakistan to the recent Pahalgam incident, questioning the credibility of the claims and India’s massive security apparatus in the region.

Speaking at a high-level community event in Washington, DC, General Munir said it was made clear to Indian authorities that if four individuals allegedly crossed into Indian-occupied Kashmir, traveled 250 kilometers, carried out killings, and returned undetected—then the presence of hundreds of thousands of Indian troops in the region raises serious questions.

“What were the Indian soldiers deployed across the valley doing?” he asked. “There are check-posts every 10 kilometers—what were those personnel doing when four men, according to their claim, moved freely, killed people in Pahalgam, and returned? Were they Superman? If that’s the case, then perhaps the Indian military has failed, and it’s time to disband it.”

The Field Marshal further revealed that when Pakistan refused to label the incident as terrorism, India issued threats, warning of consequences. “We were told to prepare for retaliation, but Pakistan does not take such threats seriously,” he added firmly.

Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has said that the true strength of the Pakistan Army lies in its people, who stood by the armed forces with remarkable unity and discipline during recent conflict-like situations.

Addressing the Pakistani community in Washington, the Field Marshal remarked, “The public’s response during the crisis was so coordinated and perfect that it seemed like a scripted reaction. Every segment of society responded with exceptional resolve and unity.”
