Robert Downey Jr and Pedro Pascal swap MCU roles for Halloween ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal have celebrated Halloween with a playful Marvel Cinematic Universe costume swap, trading their upcoming Avengers: Doomsday characters in a surprise video shared on social media.
Downey, who is set to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming film, dressed as Pascal’s character Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic. Pascal, meanwhile, donned Doctor Doom’s signature mask and costume, swapping identities with his co-star for the spooky occasion.
Downey shared the video on Instagram on October 31, captioning it: “Victor. Richard. Costume swap!”
The light-hearted moment comes as the actors prepare to face off in the highly anticipated Marvel film, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18.
Downey’s return to the MCU marks a major change for the actor, who previously played Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, across multiple Marvel films before his character’s death in Avengers: Endgame.
Pascal will make his MCU debut as Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four, following the team’s introduction in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The costume swap offers a playful nod to the rivalry between their characters in Avengers: Doomsday, where Doctor Doom is set to face heroes from three distinct universes.
The upcoming film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously helmed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The ensemble cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn and Joseph Quinn.
