Samuel L Jackson reveals his next Marvel project but says he has ‘no idea’ what it’s about

“You’re not gonna be in this movie. You’ll be in the next,” Jackson recalled Marvel telling him

Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed that Nick Fury will return in an upcoming Avengers film, but the actor admits he has no idea what Marvel has planned for the character.

Jackson revealed the news during a conversation with The Direct at the premiere of his new film The Beast. When asked about his next Marvel appearance, the actor said, “Next movie… [The] movie after this one.”

Asked whether he could tease anything about the project, Jackson said he had “no idea” what it was about, adding that Marvel “hasn’t told me anything” beyond telling him, “You’re not gonna be in this movie. You’ll be in the next.”

Although Jackson did not name the films, the comments indicate that Nick Fury will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18, 2026. His next appearance is expected to be in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set for release on December 17, 2027.

Very little is currently known about Secret Wars. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the film, which is expected to serve as the second part of the story that begins with Avengers: Doomsday, similar to the relationship between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Jackson last appeared as Nick Fury in 2023’s The Marvels. He also led Marvel’s Disney+ series Secret Invasion that same year, marking the first time the character headlined a Marvel project.

Jackson has played Fury since the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in the post-credits scene of 2008’s Iron Man. His return in Secret Wars will bring the character back for another major chapter of the MCU.
