Haskins reportedly quietly lived with Parkinson’s after becoming ill about eight years ago
Dennis Haskins, best known for playing Principal Richard Belding in Saved by the Bell, has died aged 75.
His death was confirmed by his agent, Jay Schacher, on Monday, September 28.
“It’s a tragic loss,” Schacher told People.
Haskins played Principal Belding throughout all four seasons of Saved by the Bell, which debuted in 1989 and followed students at the fictional Bayside High School in California.
He later reprised the role in Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which ran from 1993 to 2000.
“Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis, loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED his fans. He always had time for them, no matter what. He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly. I’m heartbroken,” Schacher wrote.
A cause of death has not been made public.
Haskins also appeared alongside former Saved by the Bell cast members in a 2015 The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon sketch.
His other credits included A Million Ways to Die in the West, Mad Men, Hot in Cleveland and New Girl. He made his screen debut in a 1976 episode of The Dukes of Hazzard.
Following his death, Dimples Karaoke Bar in Burbank, California, paid tribute to Haskins, who had been a regular there for decades.
The establishment said he quietly lived with Parkinson’s after becoming ill about eight years earlier.
The karaoke bar wrote that Haskins “was much more than” Mr. Belding to those who knew him and remembered him for singing, meeting fans and taking photographs with patrons.
