Prince Harry returns to US for Clinton Global Initiative Event weeks after UK move
Harry spoke about the potential impact of rapidly developing technology and artificial intelligence on children
Prince Harry has returned to the United States just weeks after moving back to the United Kingdom with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children.
The Duke of Sussex, 42, travelled to New York City to attend the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting on Wednesday, September 23. His appearance marks his second time taking part in the event, following his participation in 2024.
Harry arrived in New York on Tuesday, September 22, after spending the previous week attending a series of engagements in the UK. His latest US trip comes less than a month after he and Meghan, 45, relocated to Britain with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, on August 26.
The family has established a new base outside London while continuing to maintain their home in Montecito, California, where they had lived for around six years. Harry’s return to the US therefore marks a brief trip back to the country where the couple previously based their family life.
At the Clinton Global Initiative meeting, Harry spoke about the potential impact of rapidly developing technology and artificial intelligence on children. During his speech, he highlighted his perspective as a parent, saying, “I come to this as a father.”
The 2026 Clinton Global Initiative meeting, held under the theme “How Do We Get It Right?”, brings together public figures and leaders to discuss issues including artificial intelligence, climate and energy resilience, democracy, humanitarian response, economic opportunity and health.
Other participants at this year’s meeting include Chrissy Teigen, Bill Nye and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. The gathering is taking place during United Nations General Assembly week in New York.
Harry’s New York appearance follows a busy period of public engagements in Britain since the family’s move. He recently attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards in London, where he spoke about settling back into life in the UK, before attending the WellChild Awards on September 21.
Speaking at the Invictus event, Harry described the family’s first weeks back in Britain as “eventful” and said they were happy and getting settled, while their children had started school.
Despite Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain, the couple are not resuming their former roles as working members of the Royal Family. King Charles’ office reaffirmed their status as non-working royals earlier this month, while the couple continue to pursue their charitable and commercial work independently.
Harry is expected to continue balancing engagements in the UK with international commitments as he maintains his work with organisations including the Invictus Games and WellChild.
