The Kremlin on Monday clarified that Russia is not a threat to any European country including France while rejecting Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella’s comments as “false.”
Russia’s remarks in response to the joint statement from the leadership of France’s hardline National Rally who slammed Moscow for causing intimidation, hostile actions and threats, specifically pointing to Russia’s recent decision to sieve the Russian subsidiaries of major French corporations including Nestle and Auchan.
The statement reads, they would “never tolerate a foreign power, in this case, Russia, seeking to dictate, directly or indirectly, the policy of our country through intimidation, threats, destabilization or psychological pressure.”
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected the rebuke.
“We do not agree with this statement. Russia is not threatening France or any other country in Europe. President Putin has stated this on numerous occasions. We have no disputes with any European states that could give rise to any serious disagreements,” said Peskov.
“Russia therefore poses no threat whatsoever; it threatens no one and blackmails no one. We therefore categorically disagree with such statements. We do not accept them,” he added.
The country stated that the remarks made by the French National Rally leaders did not hold true and maintained that there are no serious underlying disputes with European states.
