Carrot Top’s representative provided update on comedian as he continues his recovery in hospital
Carrot Top remains hospitalised and is recovering after a reported suicide attempt near Las Vegas, with his representative saying the comedian is now awake and breathing on his own.
The comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, 61, was hospitalised on Friday. His representative, Jami Schlicher, told Page Six that Thompson is improving while receiving medical care and being supported by his family.
“Scott remains hospitalised and under close medical care. He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve,” Schlicher said.
She also said that humour has remained part of Thompson’s recovery and that he has shared light moments with hospital staff.
“Many messages from fans have been shared with Scott, including stories from people about how his comedy helped them through difficult periods in their own lives. Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery,” Schlicher noted.
“Scott and his family remain deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness and continue to ask that his privacy be respected,” she continued.
The recovery update comes as Thompson’s legal team deals with an alleged extortion attempt involving an explicit video.
Court documents say Thompson was recently targeted in an alleged extortion attempt involving a sex tape.
His attorney has claimed that musician Brian Evans, who previously opened for Thompson during his long-running Las Vegas show, demanded $500,000 and threatened to make the video public if he was not paid.
Evans has denied threatening to release the recording. He has said the video was deleted years ago as part of an earlier settlement and expressed sympathy for Thompson amid his recent difficulties.
Thompson’s weekend performances at the Luxor have been cancelled following the incident.
