Ed Sheeran resale ticket prices fall as Macklemore tour fallout continues

The drop comes amid continued fallout from Macklemore’s departure from the tour over his support for Palestine

Resale ticket prices for Ed Sheeran’s LOOP Tour have declined across most of his upcoming dates, according to ticket-tracking website Ticketdata, as controversy surrounding Macklemore’s removal from the tour continues.

Ticketdata showed that nine of Sheeran’s next 10 dates recorded price decreases over the three days to September 16.

Resale prices for his Saturday concert in Philadelphia fell 17% over three days and 25% over seven days.

Prices also declined for Sheeran’s two shows at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, as well as upcoming concerts in Atlanta, Charlotte, Arlington, Hollywood and Tampa.

Indianapolis was the only city among the dates tracked to record a positive three-day price change.

The ticket-price movements come amid continued fallout from Macklemore’s departure from the tour.

Macklemore said he was removed after speaking about the situation in Gaza and expressing support for Palestinians during concerts at MetLife Stadium.

Robert Kraft, who owns Gillette Stadium, confirmed that Macklemore was blocked from performing at the venue, saying it does not “provide a platform for hate speech”.

Sheeran subsequently said the decision was made by his tour promoter following threats from stadium venues. He also said he was “appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine”.

The controversy continued when Sheeran’s band and three opening acts withdrew from the tour.
