Savannah Guthrie reacts to Allison Janney’s Emmys tribute to missing mother Nancy Guthrie

Savannah Guthrie has thanked Allison Janney for remembering her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, during the actress’s Emmy celebrations.
Janney honoured Nancy after winning Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat at the 78th Emmy Awards on September 14.
Speaking on the Today show the following morning, Guthrie said, “I was so touched so see her do that,” while praising Janney for taking a moment to think about her family.
“It is her moment. Her triumph. And for her to sit and just take a moment and think about our family,” Guthrie said.
She added, “My whole family, my sister and my brother and all of our extended family are in such pain. We need help. So, thank you, Allison Janney for remembering us and for giving an opportunity for me to renew that call.”
“We just want our mom home. Give her a proper goodbye. That’s all.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen alive on the evening of January 31 at her home in Tucson, Arizona, according to authorities.
Her disappearance has led to continued appeals for information, with a reward of more than $1.2 million offered for information about her recovery.
Janney also spoke about Nancy following her Emmy win, telling reporters, “I honestly can say I think about her every day and think about the loss and what Savannah and her family are going through.”
The actress added, “I don’t think I’m alone too. I think all of America was thinking about her.”
Guthrie returned to the Today show on September 8 to film a game show based on Wordle after previously stepping away from the programme for 2 months following her mother’s disappearance.
