Buckingham Palace’s guards saluted for 9/11 victims.
On September 11, the Coldstream Guards walked towards Buckingham Palace and performed several iconic musical pieces including, The Thunderer and The Stars and Stripes Forever which were composed by John Philip Sousa, it also featured UK and US’s national anthem along with Hymn to the Fallen and Amazing Grace.
Among those who were present at the ceremony included, US Ambassador to the UK, Warren Stephen while Prince Richard and his wife Birgitte were present as the representatives of the monarch. It is said that the commemoration featured almost 40 guests.
It is worth noting here that the ceremony marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 incident as the tragedy occurred in 2001, in New York City at that time King Charles was the Prince of Wales.
Months earlier, King Charles along with Queen Camila made a royal visit at the memorial in the New York City, National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Their Majesties paid placed flowers in an emotional tribute along with a handwritten note to those who lost their lives and also interacted with their families.
“We honour the memory of all those who so tragically lost their lives on 11th September 2001, and stand in enduring solidarity with the American people in the face of such profound loss,” the note read.
