Waterhouse was asked whether she would discourage her child from following her parents into show business
Suki Waterhouse has admitted she would have no problem “nepo-babying” her daughter with Robert Pattinson if the two-year-old eventually decides she wants a career in Hollywood.
The actress, singer and model discussed motherhood and her daughter’s potential future in the entertainment industry during a new interview with Nylon. Waterhouse, 34, was asked whether she would discourage her child from following her parents into show business.
Her response was an unapologetic one.
“Why would I advise against it? I’d be nepo-babying the hell out of her,” Waterhouse said, before jokingly adding, “Oh no. Why didn’t I just keep that inside?”
The term “nepo baby” is commonly used to describe children of famous or influential parents who benefit from their family connections when pursuing careers in entertainment. Waterhouse’s comments suggest she would be willing to use her own position in the industry to support her daughter if she chooses to follow the same path.
Waterhouse and Pattinson welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March 2024. The couple have kept her name and much of her life private, although they have occasionally shared glimpses of their family life.
In March, Waterhouse marked her daughter’s second birthday by sharing a rare photo from an Elmo-themed celebration. She referred to her daughter as “the light of my life” while keeping her face out of the public spotlight.
Waterhouse also shared another glimpse of their family life during a trip to New York City in July, posting a photograph from an outing with her daughter.
The singer and Daisy Jones & The Six star has previously spoken about how becoming a mother changed her perspective. Pattinson has also discussed fatherhood, including how having a young daughter influenced his experience while working on Die My Love alongside Jennifer Lawrence.
Pattinson and Waterhouse have been together since 2018 and became engaged in 2023. Although they have generally maintained a private relationship, they have made occasional public appearances together, including a rare red-carpet appearance at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month.
Their daughter has also become part of some of Pattinson’s recent conversations about balancing work and family. The actor has had an unusually busy year, appearing in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Bong Joon Ho’s The Drama and the upcoming Dune: Part Three, while also starring in Primetime.
Pattinson previously explained that becoming a father had unexpectedly given him more time for work because he was less interested in going out at night. He is also returning as Bruce Wayne in The Batman II, which is currently in production.
For now, Waterhouse and Pattinson’s daughter remains largely out of the spotlight. But if she eventually decides to follow her parents into acting, music or another area of entertainment, Waterhouse has made it clear that she would not be opposed to opening a few doors for her.
