Since the second administration of Donald Trump began, the White House has been actively co-opting pop culture.
The most recent being the White House imaging the president as the DC superhero Green Lantern.
On social media, the posted clip showed Trump wearing a Green Lantern-style ring from which a green light emanated.
“In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!” the caption read.
So far, there is no comment from the HBO series Lantern, which has recently shared its viewership figures, and they are stunning.
Last week’s third episode, in particular, attracted ten million viewers globally just three days later.
According to Variety, seven million of them are from the U.S., while the rest are from other countries.
With the pilot reaching twenty million viewers over time, The Lanterns already enters HBO’s list of biggest series launches.
Not to mention, the series also becomes the top show, premiere-wise, among DC Studios shows on HBO Max.
Sharing these figures suggests that HBO believes Lanterns is worth investing in.
Meanwhile, the series synopsis read, “Recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
