Thirty years have passed since the tragic killing of Tupac Shakur on a fateful night of September 7 in Los Angeles.
Days before, Duane “Keffe D” had been convicted in the case that gripped the hip-hop community for weeks, if not for decades.
Yet he has indicated that he will not accept the verdict silently because he considers himself innocent; thus, an appeal may be filed in the near future.
Even Keffe D said himself, “I’d like to have my stuff back. My computers, all of my phones, everything. And I would like to appeal this matter.”
It is unclear on what specific grounds the convict’s legal team would appeal.
Notably, Keefe D did not pull the trigger himself.
However, the case gets interesting here.
Under Nevada law, to be criminally responsible for a murder does not require the person to be physically involved.
Proof that he provided an arm to carry out the killing was enough to prosecute him for the murder.
Importantly, Keefe D himself, over the years, opened up about his involvement in the rap icon’s killing.
His defense team argued that his account was exaggerated or generally unreliable, that no physical evidence exists to support it, and that he fabricated his involvement for money and notoriety.
Shakur’s death at the time jolted hip-hop and the wider artist community worldwide.
