Daveigh Chase’s boyfriend Roy Hernandez has shared details of their final conversation before her death, as competing claims over the late actress’s estimated $400,000 estate continue.
Former child star Daveigh Chase’s final conversation with boyfriend Roy Hernandez has been revealed amid an ongoing dispute over her estimated $400,000 estate.
Hernandez said Chase appeared stable the day before her death on June 16 and that they discussed plans for her future after leaving hospital.
He also said they discussed a GoFundMe campaign that could help her live more comfortably.
The following morning, Hernandez said doctors told him Chase had only hours to live.
“The next day is when they called me and they told me in the morning that she had like only hours,” Hernandez recalled. “I was like, ‘What do you mean? She was perfectly fine when I left!'”
According to Hernandez, Chase remained calm during their final exchange and told him, “I’m not afraid.”
He said she then asked, “You’re not afraid either, right?” Hernandez replied, “No, you’re right. I’m not afraid.”
Hernandez has also rejected claims that he exploited Chase or contributed to her struggles.
He said he and his mother repeatedly encouraged her to seek medical treatment, adding, “I could only tell her so much. You can’t force somebody to go if they don’t want to go.”
He said Chase herself had discussed the GoFundMe campaign and denied receiving any of the approximately $4,500 raised.
Hernandez also claimed that he proposed to Chase in 2024 and that she accepted. He later had “Daveigh” tattooed above his eye in February 2026.
The estate dispute has involved several parties since Chase died without a will.
