YouTube Music may get Apple’s sleek Liquid Glass look

Google has already updated other iPhone apps, including Chrome and Gemini.

Google may be preparing its YouTube apps for a major iPhone update, with new feature flags pointing to Apple’s Liquid Glass design and possible Dynamic Island support.

The changes, spotted Aug. 26, 2026, in YouTube-related app code, could affect iPhone users by refreshing the look of YouTube and YouTube Music and potentially adding real-time sports updates.

The feature flags suggest Google is developing the tools, but the company has not announced when they will launch.

The possible redesign was discovered by MacRumors analyst Aaron Perris, who shared a screenshot on X showing references to Liquid Glass. It remains unclear whether the screenshot came from YouTube or YouTube Music. Perris said both apps are expected to receive the visual update.

The Liquid Glass connection is not completely unexpected. Google has already updated other iPhone apps, including Chrome and Gemini, with elements that follow Apple’s newer visual style.

YouTube has already introduced some Liquid Glass styling. Its main video player received a visual update in October 2025, before Apple expanded the design across more parts of its iPhone software.

More surprising is the possible addition of live activities, which can display changing information on an iPhone’s lock screen and dynamic island without requiring users to keep an app open.
