PESHAWAR: In a major setback to militant networks operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces carried out two successful counterterrorism operations in South Waziristan and Dir, eliminating 10 militants and recovering weapons and ammunition.
The operations were conducted on August 6 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and prevent terrorist activities in the region, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the ISPR, the first operation took place in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, where militants attempted to target security forces’ check posts. The attack was effectively repelled after a heavy exchange of fire, resulting in the killing of eight militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij.

In a separate operation in Dir district, security forces eliminated two more militants, taking the total number of militants killed during the two operations to 10.
The ISPR said weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
Following the operations, sanitisation efforts are being carried out to identify and eliminate any remaining militant presence in the surrounding areas.
The military’s media wing said security forces and law enforcement agencies continue their counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace across the country.
The ISPR reiterated that operations against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism will continue until such threats are completely eradicated.
