MOSCOW: The Russia-Ukraine war saw another escalation on Sunday as both countries exchanged strikes, targeting military facilities and strategic locations.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces struck infrastructure and two vessels carrying military cargo at Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Mykolaiv, along with another vessel transporting military supplies in the Black Sea.
Meanwhile, Russian regional officials reported that Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least eight people overnight and on Sunday, hitting several locations, including a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had intercepted and destroyed 635 Ukrainian drones during the night.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said Ukrainian drones targeted a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region, located around 800 kilometres (500 miles) from Ukraine’s closest advanced military positions.

He said no casualties were reported and that emergency teams were working to extinguish a fire caused by the attack.
Ukrainian forces have increasingly carried out attacks deeper inside Russian territory, targeting economic and energy-related sites as part of efforts to weaken Moscow’s ability to continue its military campaign.
The latest strikes highlight the continued use of long-range attacks by both sides as the conflict enters another phase, with military and strategic infrastructure remaining key targets.
