Since losing the case against the Daily Mail, Prince Harry and his pals have remained predominantly silent, that is until today, when one such person sent in a representative to issue a public announcement about the case.
This statement comes directly from one of their representatives, and for those unversed, despite the case being, next week the legal teams are said to meet up once more to work out the legal costs Prince Harry and his fellow accusers would be on the hook for.
For those unversed with the shocking sum of money the Associated Newspaper funneled in, in total their costs came up £34million.
Moreover, due to a request they made, costs are to be awarded on an ‘indemnity’ basis, which means there would be no cap, and the court would not have to decide if the publishers’ costs are proportional to the case.
Now when it comes to the claimant in question that’s finally come forward, it is none other than former Government minister Sir Simon Hughes, one of the big names connected to the case, including but not limited to Sir Elton John, his husband, Prince Harry etc. etc.
Nicholas Bacon KC, spoke on behalf of the former minister and according to Express the statement reads, “he wishes to make it clear he was not a campaigner against Associated. It was not part of his case or plan to target ANL, its people or its papers.”
Moreover, “at no time did he publicly ally his case to the other claimants,” the representative added before concluding with the words, “he is not a celebrity and was, at the time, a responsible senior MP and minister of state.”
