Pakistan MMA fighters reach Asian Championship finals

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s young MMA fighters Muhammad Saqib and Muhammad Jawad have made the country proud by storming into the finals of the Asian MMA Championship after impressive semifinal victories.

The two athletes will now compete for gold in their respective age categories, keeping Pakistan’s hopes high for championship glory.

Saqib secured his place in the under-18 final after defeating a strong opponent from Kazakhstan, while Jawad advanced to the under-16 title bout with a victory over a competitor from Kyrgyzstan.

Both Pakistani fighters will face opponents from Kazakhstan in their respective championship matches as they aim to secure gold medals for the country.

Saqib enters the final with an impressive record, having previously won the gold medal at the 2024 GAMMA World MMA Championship. His latest victory has further strengthened his position as one of Pakistan’s promising young MMA athletes.

Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation President Zulfiqar Ali praised the performances of the national fighters, saying they displayed exceptional skill, determination, and fighting spirit throughout the competition.

He expressed confidence that Saqib and Jawad can achieve further success in the tournament and bring another honour for Pakistan.

With both athletes now preparing for their championship bouts, Pakistan will look to secure top honours as Saqib and Jawad compete against Kazakhstan’s fighters in their respective finals.

Their performances at the Asian MMA Championship mark another important achievement for Pakistan’s growing presence in mixed martial arts.
