CM Bugti says govt committed to strengthening law and order, improving governance

The Balochistan cabinet approved a series of major decisions aimed at improving security, education, governance and public service delivery on Wednesday, including declaring the entire province a “police area” after the integration of the Levies Force into the police system.
The decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where various matters related to law and order, development projects, administrative reforms and public welfare were discussed.
The cabinet approved Phase III of the Chief Minister Scholarship Programme, under which 300 children of registered workers from Balochistan will be enrolled in a quality boarding school in Islamabad. The initiative is designed to provide better educational opportunities to children of labourers and help them build a brighter future.
To improve the province’s security structure, the cabinet approved the appointment of Superintendent of Police Nabeel Ahmed as chief operating officer of the Balochistan Safe City Authority. It also approved the formation of the Provincial Parole Board on the recommendation of the Home Department and sanctioned the establishment of a new police station at Hub Marble City to enhance security in the industrial and commercial area.
The cabinet also approved the Service Level Agreement for the Quetta Safe City Project, paving the way for the expansion of modern surveillance systems and technology-based policing in the provincial capital.
In the local government sector, the cabinet upgraded Union Council Mesi Zai and Union Council Mai Zai to municipal committees, while also approving the establishment of a new Municipal Committee in Gulistan to improve administrative services and strengthen local governance.
For better planning and implementation of development projects, the cabinet approved the Balochistan Planning Manual. The meeting also endorsed the Balochistan Child Protection Rules 2026 to further strengthen measures for the protection and welfare of children across the province.
The cabinet approved amendments to the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Act 2026, extended the contract period of the prosecutor general for another two years, and approved the Balochistan Hybrid Weighted Procurement Policy 2026 to improve transparency and efficiency in government procurement.

Other key approvals included the financing proposal for the Harnai-Sibi Road Project, the Gwadar Development Authority Service Rules 2024, and the creation of a new tehsil and subdivision in Nasirabad district to improve administrative management and public service delivery.
The meeting began with prayers for security personnel and civilians who lost their lives in recent incidents. Cabinet members paid tribute to their sacrifices and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
Addressing the meeting, Bugti said the government was committed to strengthening law and order, improving governance, expanding educational opportunities and accelerating development across Balochistan.
He said all cabinet decisions would be implemented effectively and within the given timelines to ensure improved services and meaningful benefits for the people of the province.
