DOHA: Pakistan and Qatar agreed Tuesday to expand cooperation in internal security and other areas of mutual interest after senior officials from both countries held talks in Doha.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Qatar’s Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani discussed ways to improve security coordination, strengthen bilateral relations and support regional peace.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan’s Interior Ministry and Qatar’s security institutions. Both sides expressed their commitment to closer collaboration on security matters and discussed regional developments affecting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Naqvi represented Pakistan during the talks, while Sheikh Khalifa, who also serves as commander of Qatar’s Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, represented Doha.
During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to increase cooperation in different security related fields and continue working together on issues of shared concern. They emphasized the importance of stronger coordination between their institutions to address common challenges.
Naqvi said Pakistan remains committed to expanding its partnership with Qatar in security and other sectors. He also conveyed his condolences to Sheikh Khalifa following the death of his father, former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The Pakistani minister praised the late emir’s role in Qatar’s development and progress, highlighting his contributions to the country’s growth and international standing.
Sheikh Khalifa reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to its longstanding relationship with Pakistan, saying Doha values its partnership with Islamabad and aims to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The talks come as Pakistan and Qatar continue to maintain close diplomatic relations across multiple sectors, including security, trade, investment and regional cooperation.
Both countries have worked together on several areas of mutual interest, with security cooperation remaining an important part of their bilateral relationship.
Officials from both sides said the latest discussions reflect their shared goal of promoting stability and strengthening ties through continued engagement.
The Doha meeting also highlighted the importance of cooperation between regional partners at a time when security challenges continue to affect the wider Middle East.
