LAHORE: Director of High Performance at the PCB, Aqib Javed, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for Pakistan cricket, emphasizing structured development, modern training techniques, and coach education to bridge performance gaps at all levels.

Speaking on the PCB Podcast, hosted by Wahab Riaz, Javed stressed the need for a clearly defined role for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, aiming to strengthen the national team across formats. He revealed plans to implement a backup player system, ensuring three replacements for every key position.

The Karachi High Performance Centre will now cater to women cricketers, offering specialized training facilities, while Multan, Faisalabad, and Sialkot centres will focus on nurturing U19, U17, and U15 players, respectively. A notable upgrade includes the introduction of a biomechanics lab at the NCA for bowling action analysis and injury prevention, alongside baseball-inspired technology to refine spin bowling techniques.
