Six family members killed in Peshawar house fire

PESHAWAR: A devastating fire at a house in Peshawar’s Tehkal Payan area claimed the lives of six members of the same family, including four children, on Thursday.

The incident left the local community in shock as rescue teams recovered the bodies of the victims from inside the residence.

According to rescue officials, the fire broke out in the main hall of the house, which belonged to local Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Siraj Munir.

The flames spread rapidly due to the presence of highly flammable materials stored inside the room.

Bilal Ahmed Faizi, spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said furniture, foam and other combustible materials in the main hall contributed to the intensity of the blaze.

Rescue teams reached the site and brought the fire under control before conducting a search operation inside the house.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Rescue officials confirmed that Siraj Munir, his wife and their four children died in the tragic incident.

The bodies of all six victims were recovered together from a room inside the house after firefighters extinguished the flames.

Officials said the initial assessment suggests that the victims died due to smoke inhalation and extreme heat rather than direct burns.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
