A Swiss International Air Lines flight from Zurich Airport to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport was forced to return to the terminal after a disruptive passenger incident during taxiing.
Flight LX14, operated by an Airbus A330-300, had pushed back from gate E46 and was heading towards the runway when the crew stopped the aircraft and contacted Air Traffic Control, according to reports.
The pilots requested that police and an ambulance meet the aircraft, reportedly telling controllers: “We’re not sure how the passenger will react”.
The aircraft was redirected to gate E52, where police officers and medical personnel boarded the plane.
Reports said the passenger, who was believed to be intoxicated and behaving aggressively, was removed from the aircraft along with their baggage.
After the cabin was secured and preparations were completed, the flight was cleared for departure.
The aircraft eventually departed from runway 16 at 02:20 PM, around two hours later than scheduled.
No injuries were reported during the incident, and Swiss International Air Lines has not publicly commented on the circumstances surrounding the passenger or whether any charges were filed.
The flight later continued its journey to New York JFK following the delay.
