Why did Lil Wayne fail to appear at his Maine concert? Rapper apologises to fans after no-show

The rescheduled concert is now set to take place at a later date, with previously purchased tickets remaining valid

Lil Wayne has apologised to fans after failing to appear at his scheduled concert in Bangor, Maine, with the performance now rescheduled for later this month.

The rapper was a no-show at the opening date of the extended 20 Years of Carter Classics tour on Tuesday night.

Fans waited after opening act 2 Chainz completed his set before organisers informed the crowd at around 11pm that the concert had ended and Lil Wayne would not be performing.

No official explanation was provided at the venue for the rapper’s absence.

The following day, Lil Wayne addressed the situation in a message shared on his Instagram Stories.

“My Maine fans I’m so sorry… The show is being rescheduled to July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date,” he wrote. “I ain’t shit without you I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve.”

He added that further information would be emailed directly to ticket holders.

The concert at Maine Savings Amphitheater marked the first stop on the latest leg of Lil Wayne’s tour following its successful 2025 run.

The cancellation disappointed many fans who had travelled long distances to attend the performance. Rita Sack, who drove more than six hours from Nova Scotia, told local television station Wabi, “Well, I came here for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, and it was the most terrible experience. We drove over six hours to be here.”

She added that she would have appreciated an apology from the rapper on the night, saying, “We paid for Lil Wayne. Like, the least you can do is come out for a minute, apologize, you know? Like, just take the moment and be like, hey guys, sorry, not feeling it, feeling a little sick.”

The rescheduled concert is now set to take place at a later date, with previously purchased tickets remaining valid.
