Experts reveal simple habit to reduce stubborn belly fat

A simple daily habit such as a short walk after meals may help reduce belly fat and lower the risk of conditions including diabetes, heart disease and obesity, nutrition experts say.

Health specialists say excess abdominal fat not only affects body shape but is also strongly linked to several chronic health problems. However, they add that managing it does not necessarily require complex diets or intense exercise routines.

Experts recommend that a brief walk after eating can help stabilize blood sugar levels, slowing down fat accumulation in the body. Even 10 to 15 minutes of light walking may contribute to reducing abdominal fat over time.

Research suggests that walking at a normal pace after meals prevents sudden spikes in blood glucose, reducing the likelihood that excess energy is stored as fat. This can help in managing weight, particularly around the abdominal area.

Medical experts say post-meal walking is not only beneficial for weight control but also improves digestion, reduces bloating and heaviness, and supports better metabolic function.

The habit may also help reduce gas and indigestion, improve blood circulation and support heart health, making it a recommended part of daily routines.

According to health guidelines, individuals should wait about 10 to 15 minutes after eating before starting a walk. A light to moderate pace for another 10 to 15 minutes is considered most effective.

Experts caution against engaging in intense exercise immediately after meals, noting that it may negatively affect the digestive system.

The practice is particularly beneficial for people struggling with belly fat, those with diabetes or at risk of developing it, and individuals who spend long hours sitting.

Health specialists say early benefits can be observed within one to two weeks, while noticeable reduction in abdominal fat may take four to six weeks when combined with a balanced diet and adequate hydration.
