Seventeen-year-old TikToker and content creator Sana Yousaf was tragically murdered on June 2, 2025, after she refused the advances of a man. Sana had been living a normal life, creating content and spending time with friends, when the accused, Umer Hayat, approached her through social media and began expressing romantic interest.

Despite Sana’s repeated rejections, Umer refused to accept her “No.” Driven by this obsession, he ultimately killed her. Police apprehended Umer Hayat shortly after the incident, and authorities presented him before the court today.

Police tracked down Umer Hayat, a resident of Faisalabad, by analyzing CCTV footage and arrested him soon after. During his arrest, he confessed to murdering Sana Yousaf. Today, authorities presented him in court wearing a black mask as media cameras captured the moment. The court sent him on a 14-day judicial remand for identification purposes.

This is how he was presented in court today:

The court video sparked an uproar across media platforms. Viewers questioned why officials masked Umer Hayat’s face despite his confession to murder. In contrast, people pointed out how social media circulated Sana Yousaf’s photos widely, with men publicly shaming her without restraint. Meanwhile, authorities shielded the killer’s identity. Mishi Khan also spoke out against the decision to hide the culprit’s face. She questioned the police, asking why they covered his face and demanded that it be shown across the country.
