ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has made the process of filing income tax returns easier for overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to submit returns online through the Federal Board of Revenue’s IRIS portal.
According to officials, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has launched a special awareness campaign to educate overseas Pakistanis about the importance of filing income tax returns and the procedure involved.
The bureau said overseas Pakistanis earning income in Pakistan are required to file tax returns. This includes income generated from rented properties, investments, agricultural land, and business activities.
Authorities said filing tax returns provides several benefits to overseas Pakistanis, including lower withholding tax rates, smoother banking transactions, and incentives on property purchases.
The statement added that the tax return filing process has been made faster and more convenient, enabling overseas Pakistanis to submit returns online through the FBR’s IRIS portal.

According to the Bureau of Emigration, the government is facilitating overseas Pakistanis so they can fulfill their financial obligations easily while continuing to contribute to the country’s economy.
