Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a decisive and high-impact performance as he scored twice to guide Al Nassr to a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac on Thursday, sealing a dramatic Saudi Pro League title triumph on the final day of the season.
The result ensured Al Nassr finished the campaign two points ahead of fierce rivals Al Hilal, confirming their 11th league championship and their first domestic title since Ronaldo joined the club in January 2023. The title race remained alive until the final matchday, with pressure mounting after a turbulent run of results.
Al Nassr had earlier suffered a setback in a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal last week following a stoppage-time error from Brazil goalkeeper Bento, which denied them an early title celebration.
The club also entered the decisive fixture after a shock defeat in the AFC Champions League Two final against Gamba Osaka, making the league clash a must-win encounter.
Despite the pressure, Jorge Jesus’ side responded strongly at the King Saud University Stadium. Al Nassr took control of the match with a dominant attacking display, as Sadio Mané opened the scoring late in the first half before Kingsley Coman doubled the lead shortly after the break, putting the team firmly in control.
Ronaldo then delivered when it mattered most, scoring his 27th and 28th league goals of the season. His first came from a trademark free-kick that curled past the goalkeeper, followed by a clinical close-range finish inside the box, effectively sealing the title and sparking celebrations.
The Portuguese forward has now scored over 100 goals for Al Nassr since joining in 2023 after his second spell at Manchester United, continuing to perform at an elite level despite being in the later stage of his career. His arrival significantly boosted the profile of Saudi football globally.
As the final whistle approached, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was substituted to a standing ovation and appeared visibly emotional as fans celebrated the long-awaited league success.
With this achievement, Ronaldo adds the Saudi Pro League title to league championships in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia, further strengthening his legacy as one of football’s most decorated players. He is also expected to represent Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which would mark his record sixth appearance at the tournament.
Al Nassr’s only other trophy during his spell remains the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, which is not officially recognized by FIFA.
