The United States has described Pakistan as an important and dependable partner in the fight against terrorism. These remarks were made during a briefing to a US Senate committee, where cooperation against militant threats in the region was discussed.
The head of United States Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, praised Pakistan’s role in counterterrorism efforts. He said Pakistan is actively taking part in operations against ISIS-Khorasan, and that joint military cooperation has produced clear and positive results against militant groups.
He emphasized that this partnership shows strong and long-standing ties between Washington and Islamabad, with both countries sharing a commitment to fight terrorism together.
Admiral Cooper also expressed concern about the security situation in Afghanistan. He said that Central Asian countries are closely watching terrorism threats coming from Afghan territory under the influence of the Afghan Taliban. According to him, Afghanistan remains an important focus for the United States because of ongoing militant activity and wider regional security risks.
Pakistan has been continuously involved in counterterrorism operations targeting militant networks, especially those operating along its western border.
The CENTCOM chief said that cooperation with Pakistan has helped achieve real progress against these threats, particularly against ISIS-Khorasan. Experts believe this recognition shows the strong coordination between the two countries in counterterrorism and intelligence sharing.
