Trump rejects Tehran’s ceasefire terms amid ongoing tensions

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has firmly rejected Iran’s latest proposals aimed at securing a ceasefire, describing them as “completely unacceptable.”

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said he had reviewed the recent proposals submitted by individuals claiming to represent Iran, but found them unacceptable and unsuitable for Washington.

He stated that the differences between the United States and Iran remain substantial, with both sides still far apart on key issues.

According to Iran’s state news agency, Tehran had conveyed new proposals to U.S. officials through Pakistani mediators in an effort to end the conflict and reduce regional tensions.

The report said the diplomatic outreach was intended to ease the ongoing military strain in the Middle East and prevent further escalation.

Diplomatic sources noted that with direct communication between Tehran and Washington largely stalled, third-party mediation has taken on increased significance. Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have drawn considerable international attention.

Analysts say that even a preliminary understanding between the two countries could help reduce the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East. However, after Trump’s rejection, attention is now focused on Washington’s next move.
